Pimperne CE VC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and members of the wider school community to share this commitment. Safeguarding permeates through the ethos and culture of the school and is relevant to all activities and events that we do. Staff and Governor training is updated inline with ‘best practice’ and information is handled discretely and confidentially and in the best interests of our children, to protect and support them throughout their time here at school.

Should you have any concerns relating to the safety and welfare of a child at the school you should immediately contact our designated person(s) for safeguarding.

Safeguarding Contact Information
As a parent, if you are concerned that your child (or another child) is at risk of harm, you have a duty to report your concerns. This should be direct to the Family Support and Advice Line (FSAAL).
You can contact them on 01305 228558.
You may report concerns to the school Designated Safeguarding Lead, however, you may well be asked to report specific details directly to the FSAAL team, not via a third party.

Anti Bullying

If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other pupil at Pimperne Primary School please do not hesitate to contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead on 01258 452025 and/or safeguarding@pimperne.dorset.sch.uk. The Designated Safeguarding Lead knows who to contact for the best advice and help and is experienced in using the appropriate degree of confidentiality.
We have a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in any circumstances of bullying or alleged bullying. A copy of our Anti Bullying policy can be found on the the 'Policies' page of our website.
Our School Council review the 'child friendly' Anti Bullying policy at the start of each year and ensure their class is aware of the support and steps to take if they or a friend feel there is bullying happening.
Pupil Voice
Our School Council, led by Ms Hil, discuss safeguarding at each of their meetings. They are given a question to discuss with ideas taken back to the Leadership Team.

Do you feel safe at school? What makes you feel safe?
All children said they feel safe at school. They said this is because all adults look after them, they feel they are being cared for by friends in the playground and all staff.
There was a wide variety of names given when asked whether children feel that they knew which adult they could trust in school, to go to with a problem. These included teachers, support staff, office staff and wrap around care staff. The children also mentioned the 'I wish my teacher knew' communication boxes that they like to drop a note in as well as the class worry monster. They felt these worked well to share anything at all as the teaching teams were quick to respond and 'it doesn't even have to be a worry'!
From time to time, a governor will sit on on the school council meetings to ask for more information from the children around their priorities and where they see the need for change, tweaks and improvements.

Other resources
Developed with children, parents, carers and teachers, Talk PANTS is here to help children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell a safe adult they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried. This is used throughout Key Stage 1 regularly, to ensure the message is re-inforced. You are welcome to share it at home and talk about the importance.
